Soorya Narayan Satheesh holds a Master's in Information Management Systems from UC Berkeley and served as an Indian Forest Service Officer for over 7 years, specializing in geospatial technology and environmental management. As Deputy Conservator of Forests (IT & Statistics), he led a Geospatial lab and collaborated with India's National Remote Sensing Centre and Forest Survey of India on numerous RS/GIS projects for environmental monitoring. His work includes developing award-winning GIS applications, including a Forest Incident Reporting Module that won the 2023 SKOCH Award. He is the recipient of the prestigious "Best Gazetted Officer" Award from the State Government of Tripura, India. His unique combination of public service experience in forest geospatial management and academic expertise in information systems provides valuable insights into ethical considerations in GIS applications and data governance. Currently, he's exploring data-driven solutions at the California FTB.
